Temi Nkem’s Kitchen Takeover Sparks a Full House Debate
A well meaning cooking gesture turns into one of the day's biggest disagreements once the rest of the house weighs in.
What starts as a generous gesture turns into a full blown kitchen debate in the Big Brother Naija Season 11 house, as Temi Nkem takes over cooking duties to prepare a large pot of meat for the entire house, only to face immediate pushback from her fellow housemates.
The trouble begins almost as soon as she starts cooking. Sheba accuses her of wasting food in the process, while Oyin questions why she used up the entire portion of meat on a single dish rather than being more conservative with the shared supply. Tram adds fuel to the fire by bringing up Temi Nkem’s previous unsuccessful attempts at making custard, though Bells quickly jumps in to defend her. Despite the criticism, the eventual taste test earns a thumbs up from both Bells and Yusuf, even as Ricky flatly refuses to try it at all.
The disagreement escalates further into the evening. Sheba attempts to guide Temi Nkem through the process of frying beef, but the two clash over Temi Nkem’s confidence in the kitchen, with Temi Nkem eventually telling Sheba to leave if she does not believe in her cooking abilities. Barry steps in as well, telling Temi Nkem she should have checked with the rest of the house before using shared meat for what amounted to a personal cooking experiment.
The fallout reaches its peak when Chimsom Chuka tells Temi Nkem plainly that people were genuinely hurt by what she had done, while Keivo adds that the finished dish simply was not good, suggesting all she needed to do was offer an apology. Barry backs up both of their points, telling Temi Nkem she needs to own her mistake and describing her actions as bad behaviour.
The kitchen clash adds to a growing pattern of food related disputes that have surfaced throughout the season, joining previous incidents involving missing cutlery, disappearing eggs and disputes over bread and meat. Whether Temi Nkem ultimately offers the apology her fellow housemates are asking for remains to be seen, but for now, the disagreement stands as one of the more heated food related confrontations the house has seen this season.
